Great Lake Trail

The Great Lake Trail is made up of the Whakaipo to Kinloch (W2K), Kawakawa and Chinamans mountain biking tracks. They are world class. From there Bike Taupo will be creating a new trail from Waihaha trail back to Waihora bay which will consist of another 35 or so km's.

The tracks are Grade 2-3 and are easily ridable for all abilities. The tracks are very technical in the wet or if it has been raiing for a couple fo days solid so be prepared.

W2K:

Our recommendation is to start from the Kinloch side and do teh headland loop clockwise if you have not done the track before.

Kawakawa Track.

Runs from the other side of Kinloch over to Kawakawa Bay and back along a newly built track.

This as an awesome ride through beautiful native forest with views over the Western bays of Lake Taupo.
