Spring is here! Time to dust the cobwebs off your bike and get out there! Day Night Thriller has been and gone and now heaps of other events, including Cycle Challenge, which is only 2 months away... are on there way.

Everybody's favourite Canandian, and our head mechanic Ted, has started a company known as Tread Routes - NZ Mountain Bike Expeditions. Partnering with the New Zealand Cycle Trail they will offer fully supported point to point multi day trips with a high content of mountain bike specific track. Their primary concept is all inclusive trips with at your own pace riding and catered camping at the days end in selected bush campsites. Also they will offer customers the ability to create custom trips with accommodation and trails of their choice, by using the “Custom Routes” creator on the website (www.treadroutes.co.nz coming soon!). Tread Routes wants to create the best possible experience for mountain bikers in NZ. To do so they would like to know your thoughts on what would make the ideal bike trip for you and your friends, by taking a survey. How many times have you wanted to relive the bike ride you've just had? Missed a golden opportunity to capture a hilarious moment on camera? We've got a Contour Roam POV Camera! Armed with a 170 degree lens, shooting 1080p Hi-Def Video, Laser alignment to make sure you're shooting in the right place, and super easy to use, these cameras are the epitome of POV cameras in our opinion. We've made a little video of W2K using the camera, sadly the interweb doesn't do the 1080p justice.. check it out here.
We know we've been over it already, but you seriously need to see the new 2013 Specialized bikes, they've really outdone themselves this year with better spec'd bikes at cheaper prices, and the women's specific bikes are looking awesome! How many companies can do a hydraulic braked, full suspension 29er at $2599? Have a look in the shop, they need to be seen to be believed.

Tip of the Month:
Avoid getting any oil or contaminants on your disc brakes when lubing your chain or washing your bike. Not only will you lose braking power, your brakes will squeal, and even worse, a costly replacement of your disc rotors and brake pads! Put a rag over them when not riding or keep them dirty, you'll thank us later. Also, treat people how you'd like to be treated. That is all. |
